No doubt, you are hearing about this round in the news because the current administration was trying to ban it.

Representative Bob Goodlatte stepped in with a letter to the ATF requesting that this ban not take place. In his letter, he said:

“This round is amongst the most commonly used in the most popular rifle design in America, the AR-15. Millions upon millions of M855 rounds have been sold and used in the U.S., yet ATF has not even alleged — much less offered evidence — that even one such round has ever been fired from a handgun at a police officer,” said Goodlatte’s letter.

Goodlatte’s letter, along with fierce resistance from the NRA and Second Amendment advocates around the country, was productive in causing the ATF to back off the ban on March 10, 2015 – for the time being!

More info about the round:

It is the NATO Standard M855 round – the .223 cartridge.

Identified by a green tip, this 62 grain projectile is constructed by a lead alloy core that is topped by a steel penetrator.

The primer and case are waterproof.

While it is used by soldiers against personnel and light armored vehicles, it is also very popular among gun enthusiasts for target shooting.

We do not know how long this round will be available for sale, thanks to the current situation.

Get it while you can – We recommend optional engraving with the words “Molon Labe!”
